Much of Essex mint oil is shipped in 55 Gallon Drums.

A 55 Gallon Drum usually holds 180 kilograms, which equals 396ish lbs.

We had some of the math wizards…wizard. This is what they reported.

A 400-pound drum of mint oil will produce approximately:

  • 400,000 tubes of toothpaste
  • 4,000,000 sticks of gum
  • 20,000,000 mint candies

Of the mint oil produced:

  • 55% goes into toothpaste
  • 30% goes into gum
  • 10% goes into candy
  • 5% into other

Broken down further…

One pound of oil will produce approximately:

  • 1,000 tubes of toothpaste
  • 12,500 sticks of gum
  • 50,000 mint candies

Broken down even further…

One ounce of oil will produce approximately:

  • 5 tubes of toothpaste
  • 25 sticks of gum
  • 3,125 mint candies
